Kid’s Waltz Dance Class

Kids Ballroom Waltz online video thumbnail

Our next online dance class for the kids will be a ballroom dance class covering Kid’s Waltz. If you want to know more about our ‘offline’ classes click here.

With our Under 8’s Rainbow class we start with a gentle warm-up, followed by some party dances and then today’s dance the Waltz, adapted for younger kids.

The aim is to have a few fun elements that teach basic techniques, before we cover a couple of simple steps of this video’s dance.

Our Kid’s Class Waltz Lesson

In today’s kid’s class Imogen is going to show us our warm up.

We’ll then try our Farmer’s Wife again (we taught this last week) before we show you the Heel-Toe Polka.

For the Heel-Toe Polka you stand facing a partner in a two-handed hold. We place one foot out to the side on the heel (partner mirrors) and then cross that foot behind on the toe. There is a chassé (skip) to the side and then repeat with the other foot. Clap your partner’s right hand, their left hand, both hands then on the knees. Finally we have a Do-si-do round on the spot and then back to the beginning.

Finally Antony will take you through some basic Kid’s Waltz.

Feel free to add in a Hokey Cokey if you like!

We hope you enjoy this week’s class.

The Music

We used a selection of music in this week’s class:
