Why book a private dance lesson?
Private lessons are ideal when you would like a more personal approach to learning.
You may want to:
- Start dancing from scratch
- Build confidence before joining a group class
- Learn with your partner
- Get extra help alongside weekly classes
- Improve timing, posture, technique or lead and follow
- Focus on one particular Ballroom or Latin dance
- Prepare for exams, medals or competitions

You do not need to know exactly what you want to learn before you book. We can help you choose the right starting point.
How private lessons work
Private lessons are booked by appointment at our dedicated dance studio in Burnham.
In your first lesson, your teacher will talk briefly with you about your goals, previous experience and confidence level. You will then get moving straight away, with the lesson shaped around what you need.
Lessons can focus on a specific dance, general confidence, technique, timing, posture, lead and follow, or extra help with something you have learned in class.
There is no pressure to be perfect. The aim is to help you feel more confident, more comfortable and more in control of your dancing.
Lesson lengths
Private lessons are available in different appointment lengths, depending on the teacher, diary and type of lesson.
Shorter lessons can work well for focused help or beginners getting started. Longer lessons may be useful if you are travelling further, working on a particular goal, or would like more time to practise and develop the material.
If you are unsure which length to choose, please contact us before booking and we will be happy to advise.
Private lesson teachers
Private Ballroom and Latin lessons are available with members of the Learn To Dance teaching team.
Teacher availability varies, and not every teacher is available through the online booking diary at all times.
Antony
Antony teaches private lessons for complete beginners through to more experienced dancers. He can help with Ballroom, Latin American, social dancing, technique, confidence, performance and exam preparation.
Emma
Emma is available by request for selected private lessons and is especially popular with couples, beginners and students looking for a calm, reassuring approach.
Denise
Denise offers supportive, friendly private tuition and is a great choice for students wanting encouragement, confidence and patient guidance.
From time to time, guest teachers or trainee teachers may also be available for selected lessons.
Prices and packages
Private lesson prices vary depending on teacher, lesson length and package type.
Lessons can be booked individually, or you may be able to purchase a package if you would like to book several sessions and take advantage of advance-payment discounts.

Booking notes
Private lessons are offered on a first come, first served basis.
A regular time slot may be available by arrangement, subject to teacher availability.
Lessons are required to be paid for in advance. Payment can usually be made online, or by cash, cheque or bank transfer where arranged.
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, the full lesson price may be payable.
We reserve the right to cancel or rearrange lessons if necessary or if circumstances arise outside our control.
Wedding first dance lessons

Wedding dance packages and standard private lesson packages are separate and may show different availability. Please make sure you choose the correct option when purchasing or booking.
Gift vouchers
Private lessons make a lovely gift.
Learn To Dance gift vouchers can be purchased online and used towards private lessons, wedding dance lessons and other Learn To Dance services.
Vouchers can be emailed to you or sent directly to the recipient.
Zoom private lessons
Can’t make it to the studio?
We also offer private lessons via Zoom. These can be useful if you live further away, are practising from home, or would like online help with a particular dance or routine.
Zoom lessons can be booked in a similar way to studio lessons. Please choose the Zoom option when booking, and joining details will be sent before the lesson.

The studio has a sprung wooden floor, mirrors, sound system and free on-site parking.
