Always wanted to learn to Waltz, Social Foxtrot, Salsa or Rock & Roll?
Our Beginner Dance Courses give you time to learn one dance at a relaxed pace, starting with the absolute basics and building your confidence week by week.
Each course runs for 12 weeks and is booked in two six-week blocks. This means you can get started without paying for the full course upfront, while still having the time to make real progress in the dance.
Complete beginners welcome | No partner or previous experience needed | Free on-site parking
A focused way to start dancing
Learning one dance over several weeks gives you far more time to understand the rhythm, practise the steps and feel comfortable dancing with another person.
Rather than trying a different dance every week, you can settle into one style and build a proper foundation.
Our planned Beginner Courses include:
- Waltz
- Social Foxtrot
- Salsa
- Rock & Roll
Each course starts from scratch, so you can choose the dance that appeals to you most.
How the 12-week course works
Each Beginner Dance Course is taught over two six-week blocks.
First six weeks
The first block introduces the key foundations of the dance, including rhythm, basic steps, simple patterns and how to move comfortably with a partner.
Second six weeks
The second block builds on what you have learned, helping you develop more confidence, more variety and a fuller understanding of the dance.
At the end of the first six weeks, you will have the opportunity to continue into the second block. Most people find this is where the steps begin to feel more natural and enjoyable.
A relaxed place to start
You do not need to have danced before. You do not need specialist shoes. And you do not need to worry about getting every step right straight away.
We teach clearly, allow plenty of practice time and keep the atmosphere friendly and encouraging. You will be learning alongside other people who are also starting from the beginning.
Come with a partner, friend or family member, or join on your own. We will do our best to help everyone feel included.
What you can expect
During your course, you will work on:
- The rhythm and timing of the dance
- Basic steps and easy-to-use patterns
- Lead and follow
- Balance, posture and movement
- Building confidence with a partner
- Putting the steps together without feeling rushed
There will be regular chances to recap and practise, helping you remember what you have learned before moving on.
You are also welcome to make short personal videos of key material for practice at home.
