What to expect
Our weekly Tea Dance is a social dance session rather than a taught class.
Throughout the afternoon, we play a mixture of Ballroom, Latin and Sequence music so you can enjoy dancing at your own pace.
The atmosphere is friendly and informal, with time to dance, chat and enjoy a tea or coffee between dances.
You can expect:
- Ballroom and Latin American music
- Modern Sequence dances
- A relaxed daytime social atmosphere
- A mixture of couples and solo dancers
- Tea and coffee included
- Free parking at the studio
Please bring your own cup or mug for tea and coffee.
What dances are played?
We usually play a selection of popular Ballroom and Latin dances, including:
- Waltz
- Foxtrot
- Quickstep
- Tango
- Rumba
- Cha Cha Cha
- Jive
Other dances such as Viennese Waltz, Salsa, Argentine Tango and Bachata may be played on request.
Modern Sequence dancing
Modern Sequence is also included during the afternoon.
Popular Sequence dances may include:
- Rumba One
- Saunter Together
- Sally Ann Cha Cha
- Catherine Waltz
- Square Tango
Other Sequence dances can be played on request where music is available.
Coming on your own or with a partner
You do not need to bring a partner.
There is usually a mix of couples and solo dancers, and it is not a problem to come on your own.
If you come with a partner, you are welcome to dance together. If you come on your own, you are very welcome, although we cannot always guarantee even numbers.
Is this a class?
No — the Monday Tea Dance is a social dance afternoon, not a structured lesson.
If you are looking to learn from the beginning, our Adult Beginner Ballroom & Latin classes may be a better place to start.
If you already know a few basic steps and would like a friendly space to practise and enjoy social dancing, the Tea Dance could be a lovely fit.
Prices and booking
The Monday Tea Dance is currently £6 per person.
Discounted multi-session options may also be available through the booking system.
Please book online in advance where possible so we can manage numbers and keep the afternoon comfortable.
Tea, coffee and refreshments
Tea and coffee are included in the price of your entry.
Please bring your own cup or mug.
You are also welcome to bring your own cakes, biscuits or snacks if you would like something with your drink.
