What do I learn?
Our Adult Beginner classes introduce you to the main Ballroom and Latin American dances in a friendly, easy-to-follow way.
The classes run as a rolling programme, so you do not need to wait for a special start date. Each week we usually cover one Ballroom dance and one Latin dance, teaching a few simple steps at a time and giving you the chance to practise before moving on.
Over time, you will be introduced to dances such as Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Jive and Salsa.
We regularly revisit dances as they come around again, so if something feels tricky the first time, please do not worry. Repetition is part of learning, and most people find their confidence grows naturally as the weeks go by.
The aim is not to make you perfect overnight. It is to help you understand the basics, enjoy the music and feel more comfortable dancing with another person.
Coming on your own? You’ll be very welcome.
Many of our students start without a partner. Where numbers are uneven, our teachers and assistants help partner solos so everyone can take part as comfortably as possible.
Want to focus on one particular dance?
If you would rather focus on one dance from scratch, our 12-week Beginner Dance Courses may be a better fit. These currently include Waltz, Social Foxtrot, Salsa and Rock & Roll, and are booked in two six-week blocks.

For a completely personalised approach, you can also book a private lesson for up to two people and learn the dances that matter most to you.
How much do the Adult Beginner Ballroom classes cost and when are they?
Classes cost £10 per person, £45 for 5 sessions (3 month expiry) or £80 for 10 sessions (6 month expiry).
The Adult Beginner classes are on:
- Monday 8-8.45pm
- Wednesday 12.30-1.15pm
The 15mins between classes is for practice and questions.
Once you are comfortable with the basics, you can stay on for the Improver class that follows, where we build on the same dances and help you develop the next steps.
Booking in advance is recommended, particularly for your first visit.
