A really enjoyable week to come dancing – Foxtrot & Samba

It’s time for fun this week with a Foxtrot recap plus the classic carnival Samba.

The Samba developed as a carnival dance in Brazil, and this is characterised by the switch from stationary movements, to travelling steps, and back.

Just enjoy the movements and the energy, even if we haven’t got the Brazilian weather!

We’re in the middle of our Glastonbury Salsa weekend dance break and it’s almost time to go down for dinner and see everyone’s Havana Night themed outfits (keep an eye on our socials in case we get to upload some photos/videos).

Plus the details of our Bridgend dance break in September will be being released this week, but it is available for booking now (but be quick if you want a solo room!).

This week you’ll learn:

  • Recapping the Social Foxtrot for beginners and Slow Foxtrot for improvers
  • Samba figures from basics all the way up to advanced steps
  • The Social Foxtrot has moved into looking at a couple of nice and simple American Smooth flourishes
  • Our Waltz course will be looking at the Whisk and Chasse (assuming the recap of the Natural Spin Turn goes well!)
  • The Salsa course we may decide to recap some of the moves that have been taught this weekend.

“Hoo, hah, hah; hoo, hah, hah” is likely to be heard yelled out in various Samba classes this week!
