Cha Cha Cha & Viennese Waltz this week, plus 10-week pot luck course

Classes this week will be recapping the Cha Cha Cha and looking at Viennese Waltz.

Also the football season has resumed at the Cherry Orchard, so please allow more time for parking if you’re attending during the day on Sundays.

The toilet refurb is in full swing and hopefully it won’t be long before they’re back in operation. Whether it’ll be finished by Friday will remain to be seen but it’ll be worth the wait we’re sure.

Bookings for the competition next week have closed. We have requested a few extra tickets just in case, but we will have to return any unsold ones this week so don’t delay if you missed out on booking.

We have also made a decision on the Wednesday night courses for the run up to Christmas. The course will be a ‘Pot Luck’ course. 10 Weeks. 10 Surprises. Looking at revisiting some of the sequences we have covered on various dance breaks over the last 20 years. More details below.

What we’ve been dancing

    • Improver – rotating the basic, Shoulder to Shoulder, New Yorks with a Spot Turn ending, Alternating Spot Turns
    • Improver 2 – Foot Change to Right-side Position (RSP)
    • Improver 3 – Switch Turns, then combine into RSP sequence
    • Intermediate 1 – Combining Foot Changes and Switch Turns in RSP

What’s on the schedule this week

Around The Studio

Temporary Toilets

A warning that our toilets will be mainly out of action from Monday 28th September for a fortnight for refurbishment.

Only the disabled toilet will be available, along with some external portaloos, so we’d recommend using facilities before you attend the studio.

Hopefully the result of brand-spanking new toilets will outweigh a temporary inconvenience.

Football Back On

Sunday league football is now on. That means that Sunday morning/afternoon parking could be busier some weeks.

If you are visiting the studio on Sundays during the day please allow more time for parking.

‘Pot Luck’ Weekly Course

We’ve been racking our brains trying to work out how best to use the next 10 weeks of Wednesday courses, to avoid having a mid-course break over Christmas.

What we’ve decided to run is a ‘pot luck’ course. 10 weeks. 10 surprises. Each week we will look at a different dance break sequence from over the last 20 years.

The twist – you have no idea what we’ll be covering! It could be Waltz from Glastonbury 2016, Salsa from Bournemouth 2023 or even Paso Doble from Torquay 2012!

If there are any sequences you’d love us to revisit let us know.

Beginner Salsa Course

Our beginner Salsa course starts on Sunday 11th October at 6pm. The course runs for 6 weeks, with a 4-week extension to the end of the year.
