Dancing starts to feel smoother (Rumba & Foxtrot)
This week it’s Rumba and Foxtrot (Social Foxtrot for the beginner classes).
Foxtrot is often considered to be the hardest dance, but Antony just thinks it’s misunderstood…”honestly it’s just walking, but with a little style…”
He does have a point though. Often the problem with Foxtrot is overcomplicating it, or focusing too much on ‘heel turns’, when instead you want to work on developing the flow around the floor – not easy when you first start out though.
If you want to give it a go don’t forget we do have a FREE evening of dance classes in conjunction with the Angela Rippon-led Let’s Dance initiative on Sunday 8th March.
Next weekend sees our popular Glastonbury Dance Break, looking at Salsa this year. Details of our later-September break to Bridgend will be released in the next few weeks.
This week you’ll learn:
- Rumba recap
- Social Foxtrot basics for the beginners
- Slow Foxtrot patterns at improver and above
- Simple ways to execute a heel turn (for Improvers)
- How to float across the floor
Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow isn’t entirely accurate! We prefer Slow, float, float!
