Robot Dance Partner to feature on Dragon’s Den!

Robot Dance Partner mockup for April Fools!

Learn To Dance have been hard at work to come up with a fantastic new idea: a Robot Dance Partner. It’s such an amazing prospect that we’ll actually be pitching the idea to the Dragons on Dragon’s Den! Up until now we’ve had to keep it all top secret but we can finally share it with you today.

Why a Robot Dance Partner?

A lot of students have been asking about when we might be able to resume contact lessons. The likelihood is that body contact outside of same household will still be restricted into the summer and beyond.

We’ve had a lot more ‘free’ time than usual so we set ourselves the task of looking into viable options. As well as moveable partitions we also considered plastic sheeting that covered a person from head to waist. But we really wanted an option that would allow our solo dancers to have a guaranteed partner option. One that could also be sanitised between sessions, rather than during.

The popularity of our Fibre Optic Online Lessons made us realise there was an opportunity we hadn’t thought of. Further research confirmed that if we could find the right mechanical components the actual coding wouldn’t be too difficult.

Robot Dance Partner Coding - just kidding it's just some html from our website!

We mastered a way to upload our Online Dance Lesson routines to our specially crafted software. The next stage was to design a Robot Dance Partner that could use our software to perform the dance moves within.

This means that the Robot Dance Partner automaton will be able to recreate any dance routines we upload. Initially there will be a limited number of routines it can perform but we hope to add more dance moves as time goes on.

What Will The Robot Dance Partner Look Like?

Unfortunately for intellectual property reasons we cannot yet release the images of our RDP prototype. We can however exlusively reveal that there will be two models available, April and Phil. You will be able to see “April/Phil’s” design when we launch our pitch on an upcoming Dragon’s Den episode.

Sounds Amazing, When Will They Be Available?

Depending on the outcome of our pitch, and subsequent trials, we hope to be able to launch a working prototype in the next few months.

Further details will be announced about our Robot Dance Partner system probably never…

This is a wind-up April Fools joke right? Nice idea however for all us singles without a dance partner. If only it were true …..

Anyway Antony, looking forward to actual dance classes again whenever (hopefully soon-ish?) Best wishes to you both,

      Hi Eileen,

This is a wind-up April Fools joke right?

We’ll let you be the judge of that 😉

Hopefully if the government’s timeline holds up we will be able to welcome you back to the studio soon. Currently private lessons from 12th April and limited number group classes from 17th May.

We look forward to seeing you again once it’s permitted. ☺

    Nice one Antony 😉

Once the software is proven in the RDP, you could download it onto a chip and install it into us humans?
You’d have to charge a fortune for the chip though, otherwise your business would be a gunner!

Of course that’s our plans, unfortunately there’ll be no contactless software upgrade available so it will likely require yearly hardware upgrades…business future secured!

Ha ha ha! Love it! Sadly, I’m four days late seeing it but what a lovely, unique Sloof!
