Everyone enjoys this week – Jive Week
Jive feels quicker but it’s easier than it looks — most people leave smiling after this one. Of course they’ll also smile throughout the Tango recaps, much to our chagrin!!!
In beginner classes we’ll teach you some basic Rock & Roll, with moves that also translate into the bouncier Ballroom Jive.
The good thing is that both are generally interchangeable, and it’s always useful to be able to drop into the Rock & Roll when you need a breather mid-dance!
We do have our Beginner Rock & Roll course starting from Sunday 12th April which is available to book now. It’ll be a 12-week course but bookable in two 6-week blocks.
Finally a reminder that we are closed over the Easter weekend (apart from our Afternoon Tea on Good Friday).
This week you’ll learn:
- Recapping the Tango, including The Chase in Intermediate Level 2
- Rock & Roll Jive for our beginners, including the basic, underarm turns and a hip bump
- The Social Foxtrot course will be having it’s final recap as the course comes to an end
- Our Waltz course will be looking at some Outside Changes
- The Salsa course will be having a recap of the last 5 weeks – if you’re thinking of signing up to the extension you are welcome to attend this week for £9pp.
The above though can be subject to change depending on how individual classes run.
Did you know the school Antony & Emma trained at use “Tum-te-tum” to help with timing the Jive chasse, but you’ll often hear us shouting out “Learn To Dance” to the same effect
Beginner Rock & Roll Course
Our next beginner course will be Rock & Roll, of which the Ballroom Jive is a variant, starting from Sunday 12th April at 6pm.
The course will start with the basics before adding in a variety of moves over the 12 weeks.
Book in for the first six weeks for £50pp.
Easter Weekend Closure
Aside from our Good Friday Afternoon Tea we are closed over the Easter Weekend. Classes and lessons resume as normal from Tuesday 7th April.

PLUS: This Week on Insta
What a week for the weather! Wednesday afternoon we had the air con on during our afternoon classes, an hour later it’s hailing outside. Then the next morning we come in to beautiful clear skies and cherry blossom.
We still consider ourselves so lucky to have such a nice home for our dance studio, we hope you like it too?
