Following great feedback so far, we’re going to keep our Sunday Social practice sessions ongoing until further notice. Come September we will announce package options for those that will be attending regularly.

If you’ve not been yet they’re a great chance to practice your dancing without any pressure and get to know students from across all levels of the school.

Our [roughly] quarterly Friday night socials, with our next one being our Summer Social on Friday 7th August, will become more of a party atmosphere. With welcome drinks, fun solo and partner dances, plus general Ballroom and Latin American, we plan to make these more of an ‘event’ that you can enjoy trying new things at.

Advance booking is recommended as we’re already approaching 50% booked!

This week in our general classes we’ll be recapping Salsa and looking at Argentine Tango.

⭐ Antony & Emma’s tip of the week
Argentine Tango is supposed to be a completely improvised dance, with both leader and follower being able to embellish moves at will. To begin with you need to work on communication between both of you, but through our body tone rather than voices.

Salsa
- Beginner – Basic, Underarm Turn to Right, Double Opening Outs
- Improver – Cross Body Lead, Walkthrough Turn
- Improver 2 – Shoulder to Shoulder, Underarm Turn to Left, Leader Underarm Turn to Left, Rope Spin
- Improver 3 – Right hand to right hand wrap, Catapult
- Intermediate 1 – Rope Spin, Natural Top
- Intermediate 2 – Natural Top Pass, then with a Spin Ending
- Advanced – Natural Top Pass with Spin Ending, Rotating Chasses into Opening Outs to Right and Left
- Over 50s – Shoulder to Shoulder, Underarm Turn to Left
Beginner Waltz Course – looking at Rise and Fall
Waltz Course – Double Reverse Spin
Foxtrot Course – Working on Swing during the basics

Around The Studio

Following a few weeks of trialing our Sunday Social practice sessions, we’ve had great feedback and we will be making the Sunday Social a permanent fixture up until the end of the year (and going forward if it continues to be popular).

For those that have been attending over the last few weeks, thanks for all the compliments on how useful and fun you’ve found the sessions, for those that haven’t attended yet we look forward to seeing you at one soon.

Dancers on our 2024 Bournemouth Dance Weekend, in a guys and molls theme

Our Summer Social will take place on Friday 7th August. There’s a welcome drink on arrival, a summery theme to outfits, and dancing throughout the night. We’ll also be looking at incorporating some fun solo and couples dances too!

Bridgend Dance Weekend – Friday 25th-27th September

Our Bridgend Dance Break (formerly Bournemouth) is looking at Foxtrot & Samba this year, with a “Golden Age of Hollywood” theme to the Saturday night.

Places start from £265pp and bookings close on 25th August. We’re already over 45% booked and only have 3 solo rooms remaining.
