This is usually where it clicks – Tango Week
After the faster dances, Tango makes leading suddenly clearer and more precise. Plus we’ll be recapping the carnival dance, Samba from last week.
Ballroom Tango is a dramatic partner dance that developed from the Argentine Tango, but was adapted to suit the ballrooms of Europe.
It features sharp staccato movements and powerful travelling steps…eventually! Just make sure you keep your ‘tango face’ throughout.
We also have our Beginner Rock & Roll course starting from Sunday 12th April and details of our Bridgend dance break (including advance booking discount if you book by 30th April).
Plus we are refocusing some of our events for later in the year and currently the Good Friday Afternoon Tea will be our only catered event at the studio – so book in by the 27th March if you want to join us.
This week you’ll learn:
- Recapping the Samba basics for beginners, up to a variety of shadow position movements with out intermediate to advanced students.
- Tango basics for our beginner and improvers; as always Improver 2 and above will depend on what mood Antony is in!
- The Social Foxtrot course will be finishing with American Smooth flourishes from ‘Twinkles’
- Our Waltz course will be recapping the Whisk and Chasse and starting to look at some figures for avoiding collisions.
- The Salsa course will be recapping the inside turn and looking at shoulder checks
The above though can be subject to change depending on how individual classes run.
Why is it that whenever we ask you to smile in other dances, you bring out your ‘concentration face’, yet with Tango everyone’s all smiles?! 😠
Good Friday Afternoon Tea
Join us on Friday 3rd April to celebrate Easter with our Good Friday Afternoon Tea. The afternoon includes a full afternoon tea followed by dancing.

Our next beginner course will be Rock & Roll, of which the Ballroom Jive is a variant, starting from Sunday 12th April at 6pm.
The course will start with the basics before adding in a variety of moves over the 12 weeks.
Book in for the first six weeks for £50pp.
