Rumba One, adapted for smaller spaces

Rumba One sequence dance online video thumbnail

Looking to learn the Rumba One but don’t have the space, or want to practice at home? Check out our sequence for small spaces series of videos.

Sequence dancing is where you repeat the same 16 or 32 bar routine throughout a song, dancing around the room, and in sync with everyone else.

Now that’s great when you have the space. What we’re going to show you today is how to practice the basic movements in your front room.

The Dance – Rumba One

Rumba One includes quite a few recognisable Rumba steps, including moves such as Fencing and Cuban Rocks.

We’re going to break it down into easy to master chunks, and then bring it together to the full routine throughout the lesson.

To convert this Rumba One into the full version you would curve the forward walks after the Cuban Rocks back to face the same wall you started on. After the Cucaracha you would chasse down the room as you take your partner into shadow hold before taking 6 Rumba Walks down the room.

The Music

For this video we are using Into You Eyes by Lennon Hutton
