Antony shortlisted as Dance Teacher of the Year
Thank you to everyone that entered votes for any of our LearnToDance teachers in the Dance Today ‘Teacher of the Year’ Competition.
The winner was announced in last month’s Dance Today magazine, a Hip-Hop teacher based in London who helped choreograph for the London Olympics, and this month they announced the runner-up and shortlisted teachers.
The runner-up is the dance coordinator for an academy school in Kent but Antony was actually one of the two remaining shortlisted teachers. Given the size of the schools and organisations we were up against we’re over the moon that so many of you must have voted for us, and Antony in particular.
Not only did they print a few of the testimonials they’d received for us but also our website details as well so hopefully we’ll get a nice bit of exposure from it.
Once again we can only thank you all for your votes, and especially those of you who sent us copies, it means so much to us to know you appreciate everything that we do.
Needless to say we’ve decided to keep our prices the same now that Antony doesn’t have national fame as an excuse to double prices! 😉
A selection of the testimonials submitted can be found below:
“For as long as I can remember, my wife of nearly 40 years has wanted to learn to dance. However, as a man with two left feet…I was never much interested. A couple of years ago, as it was her 60th birthday, I decided to treat her to a course of six lessons, not fully appreciating that I would be an integral part in this. Thankfully, good fortune was on my side when I found Learn To Dance and the wonderful Antony. His blend of charm, good humour (well, in fact, a wicked sense of humour), unlimited patience and, above all, total belief in his ability to teach ANYONE to dance was an instant success.”
“I would love to see my teachers win your dance teacher of the year. Having had 2 left feet I was reluctant to get into dancing, even though my partner had been asking me to go to lessons for years. Having eventually given in and joining lessons with Learn to Dance, I am now thinking that I should have started many years ago. Antony and Emma-Louise Holeksa have built my confidence in dancing, helped me improve by leaps and bounds (sometimes quite literally with some of the moves they have taught me), whilst making sure that learning to dance is great fun. I would like to nominate Antony and Emma-Louise Holeksa for your prize as it is always a pleasure to attend their fun lessons.”
“I am voting for Antony Holeksa as the best ‘Dance teacher’ ever. Antony has a unique way of engaging and motivating his students. He always makes himself available and possesses a gentle humour and a boundless enthusiasm for his craft that is infectious. I am indeed a challenge and I speak from experience when I state that Antony goes out of his way to get you there. Always sensitive to the needs of his students, he breaks tasks down clearly and will adjust his teaching to ensure that all keep up within the lesson. Often his ‘little tweaks’ often make all the difference. He is a truly inspirational teacher who makes dancing fun and accessible to all.”
“His comments are very positive and encouraging and at the social dances he ensures that he dances with all of us [ladies on our own] at least twice by giving out raffle tickets.”
“I am 70 and have seen a lot of dancing instructors over the years but he is by far the best one.”
